Self Aware Drones
Are you a self-aware drone? Confined to a cubicle, you're
overstepping your societal programming not through your actions, but
your thoughts and manners. Fall in line. Serve the interests of not
yourself or even family - but for your masters - your employers. For
your loyalty, your health, your LIFE, all you get in return is a
certificate of recognition and a pat on the back from your superiors
and peers. "You're awesome! You've given 30 years of service to
the company. Bravo!" You've given the best years of your
life for this. Is this what you want?
This isn't reality though. It's a glimpse into one of the many realities that you can create for yourself, but being complacent or doing something of your own volition - It's all a choice.
You're overflowing with spite, contempt and resentment. Year after year, you feel that your intelligence is being insulted. You were meant for more than this. Walking into work, you loathe the thought of stepping into your office. You want to tell your boss or co- workers to "shove it", but can't because you'd lose your job.
You have dreams that eclipses the space occupied by your cubicle millions of times over. You say that maybe someday, this will all change when that big idea strikes, when you have enough money, or when you reach a certain age. Bullshit.
You complain that the world hasn't given the opportunity to you or inspiration in order for you find something you're passionate about. What better time than now to figure what you're truly passionate about?
If you see a problem that you've personally experienced and it hasn't been solved yet, start investigating and think about how you'd solve it yourself. No one will ever hold your hand. What you can can control in this process is who you associate yourself with. Seeking the counsel of mentors and amazing people who are blazing trails themselves can help guide you and gain more clarity.
The internet has broken down nearly all barriers of entry. Bloggers who are passionate about what they do, are able to make a living because that wasn't their original intention. Entrepreneurs aren't born, they're made. Bit by bit, every article, book, meeting, convention, every "authority" we meet and are consquently inspired by makes us who we become. We become more than who we were a day ago, that bit of knowledge that you've learned, you've applied and tested immediately out of sheer curiousity brings you closer to your vision.
In every failure there is something to be learned. Every success is celebrated, but not for long. Complacency and resting on your laurels is never tolerated. Your passion, your hustle, your vision and wanting to contribute something of value to the world is all you've got - to start with.
When you think back, after waking up in the morning feeling invigorated and excited of the fact that you're doing something that you love - from those dreams, you've slowly become who you wanted to become. You're a self-aware and bursting with potential. What's holding you back?
